Husker Fan Club - Nebraska Cornhuskers Message Board - Registration

The Husker Fan Club was created to with this vision in mind: Friendly, intelligent conversation for the serious Husker fan. We ask and expect thoughtful and courteous participation of all members. Members who fail to post for 30 days will be deemed inactive and dropped from membership.

Who We Are
A healthy, positive Husker community where people treat each other respectfully and graciously even in their disagreements. Where we, indeed, truly stick together in all kinds of weather because our friendship rests not on being RIGHT but being friendly and respectful toward fellow Husker fans.

I would hate to make the same mistake we have seen at two different Husker boards, defining ourselves by what/who we hate rather than by what we love. I would like to be a part of a Husker community that wants to represent the BEST of Nebraska people and Nebraska fans -- decent, friendly, down-to-earth folks who love their Husker teams and remain loyal, supportive, and encouraging even during times like this past fall when we all recognize things had gone sour and a change needed to be made.

Here you earn respect with intelligent posts. You lose it with subjective, personal biases in spite of objective evidence. Everybody benefits for solid reasoning and thoughtful reflection in posts. Some of the best threads happen when two or more people with contrary positions engage in highly intelligent, respectful disagreements. It elevates the intelligence of all of us. Just keep it intelligent and mutually respectful.

Who WILL Fit Here
If you love the Huskers and enjoy friendly conversation about the team/program we love, this could be a great fit for you. If you believe people of good faith and character can disagree and still be respectful and civil toward each other, this can be a great place for you and us. One rule many of us have long felt is fair and healthy: You can take any position you want as long as you can back it up with facts. However, do not take it personally if your position gets challenged. As iron sharpen iron, so one person sharpens another. You will gain the respect of others if you accept friendly criticism.

In particular, if you can laugh at yourself and others while remaining friendly, you not only will fit here, you will thrive here. We have a lot of fun with each other.. If you enjoy friendly fun, you will make it an even better place for all of us. There are some absolutely super folks here -- great people and great Husker fans. We want to build on that.

Who WILL NOT Fit Here
Big egos probably will not do well here no matter how much you might know or how connected you might be. Another good, simple rule: Do not be a jackass. Sometimes it it best just to let some arguments go -- mature people can do that. Negative people who tend to only seen the bad, who continually put others down, or who constantly, endlessly criticize coaches past or present (i.e. trolls) probably will not last long. This does not mean you cannot constructively and intelligently criticize. Just back it up with enlightened reasoning. If you simply love to argue for arguing sake, please take that elsewhere.

Tips:
1. Learn the culture and adapt to it and this will be a great experience for you and us.
2. Back up your position with facts. However, not everybody interpretes facts the same. What one sees as a positive fact in some ways, another may see as a negative. Just remember that if someone takes the time to pull out relevant information, be gracious enough to look at it, and allow differing interpretations.
3. Show respect to others, it will be returned...be a jerkwad and get steamrolled. The victim act will not play in this neighborhood. We are all supposed to be adults here...not saints, nor sailors.
